PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which has a large variable power ratio, is improved in the degree of freedom of aberration correction, and is sufficiently miniaturized in an optical axis direction as well and to provide an imaging apparatus including the zoom lens.SOLUTION: A zoom lens includes, in order from an object side, at least a first lens group having positive refractive power, a second lens group having negative refractive power, a third lens group having positive refractive power, a fourth lens group, and a fifth lens group and satisfies the following conditions: 2.0<&bgr;rt<3.5 and -0.8<frt/ft<-0.3, where &bgr;rt is the composite lateral magnification at the telephoto end of a lens group located closer to an image side than the third lens group, frt is the composite focal length at the telephoto end of the lens group located closer the image side than the third lens group, and ft is the focal length of the zoom lens at the telephoto end. |
