A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer which is arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. A buffer layer is arranged on the second substrate to form a groove part. A spacer which is partially inserted into the groove part is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The bottom of the groove part is in contact with the upper side of the spacer. The shortest line across the center of the bottom of the groove part is 14 to 20um longer than the longest line across the center of the upper side of the spacer.
