Method and apparatus for conversion of cellulosic material to ethanol

Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for conversion of lignocellulosic biomass feedstock, such as wheat straw, to ethanol and other products. The feedstock is subjected to continuous pressurized hydrothermal pre-treatment without addition of chemicals, and a liquid and a fibre fraction are produced.
