The injector of an electromagnetic burst-firing rail-mounted gun is constructed from a number of electromagnetic rail-mounted preliminary accelerators which are located one behind the other, each of which accommodates a projectile, and which can be driven successively from the front to the rear, the projectile in a subsequent preliminary accelerator in each case speeding through the preliminary accelerator located in front of it and from which the projectile has been fired. The injector, which is formed from a series of such preliminary accelerators, is preferably constructed as a replaceable unit which is set up to be used only once, it being possible to feed a plurality of such injectors to the main acclerator of the gun in a repeater device, and to eject them after firing.
