Process and related apparatus for the partial or complete recovery of residual quantities of treatment solutions after the electrochemical (galvanic) and/or chemical surface treatment or for drying residual quantities of the rinse water adhering to pourable mass-produced articles in dip drums, wherein a compressed air hood is placed substantially on top of the upper half of the drum cylinder (2) by that part of the interior of the drum (2) which is not filled by the batch (1) of pourable mass-produced particles (17) being essentially encompassed by the said emplaced hood and thus becoming integrated therein, forming a kind of compressed air chamber (5) which has as its bottom the air-permeable inclined surface A-B of the batch (1) which is formed by the rotation of the drum (2) and through which the compressed air - flowing out of said compressed air chamber (5) and thus out of the interior (17) of the drum (2) not occupied by the batch (1) transversely through the batch (1) - can escape specifically downwards out of the perforated drum (2) entraining the residual treatment liquids off the surfaces of the batch (1). Said compressed air hood (5) can be active not only in stationary fashion, by being [attached] to a stationary container (7, 25) of the plant for the surface treatment, or in mobile fashion, in which case the compressed air chamber (5) is mounted on a transporter vehicle (19) of the plant. <IMAGE>
