PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emission element capable of stably emitting electrons in an atmospheric air and in a vacuum without causing warpage of an electrode and peeling of a thin film.SOLUTION: An electron emission element of the present invention includes a first electrode 1, a second electrode 2, and an intermediate layer 3 between the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2, and emits electrons from the second electrode 2 with an application of voltage between the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2.
