PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of reducing noise.SOLUTION: A paper feeder includes a registration roller 14 for conveying a paper sheet P to a printing unit 3 in a printing apparatus 1, a paper feeding roller 12 for picking up the paper sheet P loaded on a paper feeding rack 11 and conveying the paper sheet P to the registration roller 14, and a control unit for controlling the registration roller 14 and the paper feeding roller 12. The control unit starts to drive the registration roller 14 after stopping the paper feeding roller 12 when the paper sheet P to be conveyed by the paper feeding roller 12 abuts on the registration roller 14 to form a predetermined amount of slack on the paper sheet P, and then starts to drive the paper feeding roller 12, to perform control so that a speed difference between a conveyance speed by the registration roller 14 and a conveyance speed by the paper feeding roller 12 becomes constant until the slack on the paper sheet P is eliminated. |
