Inductive coupler for transmitting data via telephone lines

This coupler consists of an NF transformer, divided into two by a continuous air gap in its core, having in each case one winding on each core half. The coupler half KA on the telephone side is permanently mounted on a magnetically transparent area P of the inside of the housing of a telephone set T or handset. The coupler half KB on the modem side is arranged removably on the outside of the magnetically transparent area P of the housing wall or permanently mounted in a removable receiving device. The congruent arrangement of the two coupler halves on both sides of the magnetically transparent housing area P is forced to occur due to a form-locked construction. Their mutual spacing is kept constant by a permanent magnetic field or by spring force (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
