ARTICULATING POPPET TO SEAL A NATURAL VACUUM LEAK DETECTION DEVICE

A Natural Vacuum Leak Detection (NVLD) device (12) having an artic- ulated poppet (40) to allow the sealing surface of the poppet portion (40B) to articulate, or wobble, on the end of a poppet pin (86), where the poppet pin (86) is mounted to the end of the flange portion (82). The flange portion (82) has the friction spring (90), and poppet spring (68) pushing on it. The seal surface of the flange portion (82) is able to move to evenly apply force to the lip seal (70), and provide a full seal. Because the seal surface of the flange portion (82) is able to ar- ticulate, or wobble, the flange portion is able to compensate for mis- alignment between the poppet stem portion (40A) and lip seal (70).
