PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery using a gel-like negative electrode capable of preventing separation of alkaline electrolyte by using one kind of gelling agent.SOLUTION: The alkaline battery includes: a hollow cylindrical positive electrode 2 which is enclosed by a cylindrical battery case 1 with bottom; a gel-like negative electrode 3 including zinc and a gelling agent; a separator 4 disposed between the positive electrode 2 and the gel-like negative electrode 3; and alkaline electrolyte. The gelling agent is constituted of one kind of polyacrylate. The density of the polyacrylate in the gel-like negative electrode 3 is within a range of 0.4-1.0 mass%. The density of the zinc in the gel-like negative electrode 3 is within a range of 55-70 mass%. The bulk density of the zinc is within a range of 2.50-3.00 g/ml. |
