PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses fluctuations in a detection result of a developer residual amount between a part having deformation and a part having no deformation on a surface of a supply member, caused by such a situation that the supply member is left in contact with a developer carrier.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 is configured in the following manner. While a developing roller 401 and a supply roller 402 are both rotating, a controller 50 controls a detection device 409 so that the detection device 409 primarily detects an electrostatic capacitance between the developing roller 401 and the supply roller 402; determines a stop position 402a in a circumferential direction of the supply roller 402 to face the developing roller 401, based on the minimum electrostatic capacitance between the developing roller 401 and the supply roller 402 primarily detected by the detection device 409; and stops the developing roller 401 and the supply roller 402. While the developing roller 401 and the supply roller 402 are both in a stopped state, the controller 50 controls the detection device 409 so that the detection device 409 secondarily detects an electrostatic capacitance between the developing roller 401 and the supply roller 402; and detects a residual amount of a toner T based on the second detection result detected by the detection device 409. |
