[Problem] To provide a holding device that is for a fuel cell electrolyte membrane and that can evince favorable production efficiency. [Solution] The holding device (60) for a fuel cell electrolyte membrane is provided with a support body (65) having a planar section (70) that supports an electrolyte membrane (30) at which catalyst layers (32, 33) are disposed and configuring a membrane electrode assembly. The planar section (70) has a frame-shaped groove that is positioned to the outside of the outer rim of the catalyst layers (32, 33), the groove is connected to an air aspiration unit (85), and the electrolyte membrane (30) is suctioned by means of the air in the groove being aspirated.
