PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent water leakage by detecting the pinching of laundry by a lid of a drum washing machine.SOLUTION: A drum washing machine comprises: a clothing put-in opening 39 of a water tank which is provided in a water tank 32 while facing an opening 37, for putting clothing into the water tank; a motor 34 rotatably driving a rotary drum 30; a packing member 62 connected between the opening 37 and the clothing put-in opening 39 of the water tank and made of an elastic material; a lid body 38 being in contact with the packing member 62 and covering the opening 37 so as to be freely opened/closed; motor current detection means 60 detecting a drive current of the motor 34; and control means 51 controlling the motor 34 to successively control a series of steps of washing, rinsing and dewatering. During the rotation of the rotary drum 30 in a water supply step at early stage of the washing step, when a current value of the motor 34 exceeds a predetermined current value a predetermined number of times or more in a predetermined range of rotational frequency, the control means 51 detects the pinching of laundry between the lid body 38 and the packing member 62 and thereby prevents water leakage or the like due to the coming-off of the packing member. |
