A light-emitting device provided with a linear light source (21, 22, 23) in which a plurality of light-emitting elements (21a, 22a, 23a) are linearly arranged on a long substrate (10) in the longitudinal direction thereof, wherein the plurality of light-emitting elements (21a...21a, 22a...22a, 23a...23a) constituting the linear light source (21, 22, 23) are connected in series, and protective elements (31, 32, 33) are connected in parallel to individual groups of serially connected light-emitting elements. The protective elements (31, 32, 33) are arranged on the substrate (10), on the outward side of the light-emitting elements positioned at the end in the direction the light-emitting elements are arranged. |
