A fiber optic connector comprises a mechanical splice assembly, a cam for activating the mechanical splice assembly, a mechanical splice assembly holder for accommodating and retaining the rear portion of the mechanical splice assembly, a clamp holder, a connector housing for accommodating the front portion of the mechanical splice assembly and a shroud. A method for making the same fiber optic connector is also provided. The mechanical splice assembly can be mounted onto the splice assembly holder without using adhesives and the fiber optic connector can be activated/reactivated without using special tools in field installation. |
