The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating an amyloid beta-caused disease, which comprises as an active ingredient a NIa (nuclear inclusion a) protease or a gene carrier containing a nucleotide sequence encoding the NIa protease. The pharmaceutical composition of this invention is very effective to treat a variety of diseases or disorders, inter alia, Alzheimer's disease.
