PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for monitoring the operating point of an optical packet processing optical element capable of stabilizing a ratio of output branching to a plurality of output ports of an optical switch, and an optical packet switch.SOLUTION: Monitor light for monitoring the operating point of an optical element is inserted into only a non-signal time zone present between optical packets before being inputted into the optical element, and the operating point of the optical element is monitored by using the monitor light outputted from the optical element as a monitor signal. For example, if the optical element is a 1x2 type LN optical switch 11, the monitor light is inserted into only a non-signal time zone present between optical packets which are inputted into the 1x2 type LN optical switch 11, and, by using the monitor light outputted from one of output ports of the 1x2 type LN optical switch 11 (e.g., an output port 11b) as a monitor signal, a DC bias voltage applied to the 1x2 type LN optical switch 11 is controlled so that the strength of the monitor light becomes maximum or minimum. |
