The irrigation device for a building with a water-absorbent floor covering, has a top water feed pipe (12,16,18) to which one or more sprinklers (10,14,15) are connected by branch pipes (20). These have outlets (30) at a lower level. The branch pipe has a first section (21) extending from the feed pipe and whose highest point is above the latter, also a second section (22) connected to the first and whose end supporting the sprinkler is at a lower level than this highest point. It contains a one-way valve (26) which, when pressure drops in the feed or branch pipes, connects the sprinkler and the pipe section above it to atmosphere.
