PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent body with improved absorption performance such as a high body fluid absorption speed. SOLUTION: The absorbent body 1 for an absorbent article is a vertically long body including: a water-absorbent and liquid-permeable first layer 2 arranged on a skin abutment surface; and a second layer 3 arranged on a skin non-abutment surface. The first layer 2 has no water-absorbent polymer 32 or has a smaller amount of water-absorbent polymer 32 compared with the second layer 3. The second layer 3 includes an adhesive and the water-absorbent polymer 32, which is fixed via the adhesive, on the skin non-abutment surface of the first layer 2. The adhesive of the second layer is applied to both the front and back sides and right and left sides in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent body in the body fluid discharge position 11 of the absorbent body, so as to form respectively multiple-layered streaky adhesion parts F, B, R, L.
