Control means 700 for use with a mobile telecommunications network including a core network, and a radio access network (RAN) having radio means for wireless communication with mobile terminals registered with the network. The control means are operable to control the use of network resources by said mobile terminals and are included within the RAN (at a Node B or Base Station for example). The control means are also operable to host at least one application, and includes verifying the application before allowing installation of the application. Locating the control means within the RAN reduces the amount of core network traffic in the telecommunications system. Other embodiments relate to the control means recording mobile terminal identifiers, receiving information on active mobile terminals, routing of mobile traffic, simultaneous communication, data transfer, identifying individual radio access bearers and distinguishing data packets. |
