An object of the present invention is to prevent lubricant oil of a speed reduction unit from moving to an electric motor side and besides to prevent an eccentric load from acting on bearings supporting an input shaft. In a drive device for an electric vehicle including: a speed reduction unit 12 including an input shaft 13 driven by output of an electric motor 11; a hub unit 15 rotationally driven by an output member 14 of the speed reduction unit 12; and a housing 16 accommodating the electric motor 11 and the speed reduction unit 12, the configuration is made such that a partition 24 for partitioning an accommodation section into respective accommodation spaces of the electric motor 11 and the speed reduction unit 12 is provided in the housing 16, and an oil seal member 36 is placed between a peripheral edge portion of a center hole of the partition 24 and a rotor support member 31 of the electric motor 11.
