A video player for online video includes a display adapted to display a timeline (or playback progress bar) illustrating a current playback position within the duration of the video and times at which tags (such as hyperlinks or other interactive items inserted into the video) are to be displayed. The timeline has a variable non-linear scale that is able to expand around a specified location which may be selected by means of a GUI or mouse pointer/cursor place over the timeline. When a point is selected on the timeline (for example using a pointer or cursor under the control of a mouse directly via a touch screen), the current playback position of the video is moved to a point corresponding to the location selected. The invention enables the timeline to expand around specific points, particularly when tags are concentrated in one area making it difficult to differentiate between adjacent tags. |
