An assembly is provided for mounting a fluid flow sensor 50 of the kind comprising a rotary turbine mounted in a frame 55 The mounting assembly comprises a cage 60 for locating the device in a fluid flow, with the axis of rotation of its turbine generally aligned with the direction of flow. The cage incorporates a plurality of apertures 61. With the cage mounted in a flow line, the apertures effectively present baffles which act to counter a component of fluid flow laterally with respect to the direction of flow, thus encouraging the flow past the turbine to be laminar. The baffles can be presented by the cage in the form of apertures or spokes. The flow sensor can be incorporated into a pump (10, fig 4). The flow sensor assembly can act as an actuator for a pump assembly. |
