PURPOSE: A composition including a polyacetylene compound or extract of Petrosia sp. is provided to have growth-suppressing activation effect to cancer cells, thereby being used as a pharmaceutical composition for treating and preventing cancer cells. CONSTITUTION: A composition including a polyacetylene compound or extract of Petrosia sp. is represented by chemical formula 1. The polyacetylene-based compound has three hydroxy groups. The polyacetylene compound has hydroxy groups at the third, 16th, and 28th positions. A pharmaceutical composition for treating and preventing cancer contains the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt as an active ingredient. The amount of the compound is 0.1-50 wt%, based on the total weight of the composition. |
