PURPOSE: A method and gateway device for data transmission between CAN (controller area network) and Ethernet network can overcome the difference of network addresses and transmission/reception of CAN and Ethernet, and transmit/receive massage to/from each other. CONSTITUTION: A first message-checking part (120) checks whether a CAN message is transmitted from a CAN channel or not. The first message-checking part filters the CAN message based on filtering conditions according to a CAN ID included in the CAN message. The first message-checking part stores a first message which is the filtered CAN message in a first message storage unit set for each of the CAN ID. A first message transfer unit (130) checks the first message when the first message is stored in the first message storage unit. The first message transfer unit transmits Ethernet data including a target address identifying an Ethernet client and the information stored in the first message to an Ethernet channel.
