PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce raw materials derived from petroleum resources while maintaining workability, and to improve balance between low heat generation property and tear resistance without impairing resistance to bending fatigue. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire sidewall is obtained by compounding a diene rubber including 40-70 pts.wt. of a natural rubber and 30-60 pts.wt. of a high cis-butadiene rubber with alkyl-D-glucopyranoside, a compound of general formula (1), wherein n is 0-24, and a carbon black having a predetermined iodine adsorption and DBP absorption.
