The different illustrative embodiments provide an apparatus, a system, and a method for managing a portal (104). The different illustrative embodiments provide an apparatus comprising a locking system (204), a detection system (206), and a portal access system (114). The locking system (204) is for a portal (104) having a first side and a second side (120, 122). The portal (104) is configured to swing about an axis (128) through the first side between an opened position and a closed position. The detection system (206) is configured to detect when a robotic vehicle (106) is located within a selected distance of the portal (104). The portal access system (114) unlocks the portal (104) when the portal (104) is in the closed position and the robotic vehicle (106) is detected within a selected distance of the portal (104) using the detection system (206). |
