IMAGE MATCHING METHOD

An image matching method is disclosed. The image matching method comprises (a) to (e). In a step (a), feature pixels having a defined image feature are extracted from a first image. In a step (b), feature pixels having a defined feature are extracted from a second image. In a step (c), similarity measure values for feature areas of the first image having each first image feature pixel as a center and feature areas of the second image having each second image feature pixel as a center are obtained according to regular mutual information and gradient direction information. In a step (d), first and second image feature areas having the largest similarity measure value are set as a final matching-area pair and one pixel pair among pixel pairs in the final matching-area pair is set as a final matching-pixel pair. In a step (e), pixel coordinates of the second image are converted in order to match coordinates of the final matching-pixel pair.
