<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The input device (1) has a turning shaft and a center shaft that are rotated along with a button (2) centering on an axis line (L). Four photo interrupters are arranged in preset intervals along circumferential direction of axis line, where the number of photo interrupters is less than preset number of tilting directions of the shafts. The output values are provided by the interrupters according to movement of the shafts with respect to the interrupters and the tilting direction of the shafts is determined based on the information of output values. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Operation input device. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The tilting direction of the shafts can be detected reliably with a fewer number of photo interrupters so that number of photo interrupters in the input device can be minimized and construction of the input device can be simplified.
