Methods, systems and apparatuses for inspecting tinted ophthalmic parts. An image of the ophthalmic part is captured, at least one colorant being present in a portion of the image. A reference image of a standard ophthalmic part is captured, at least one colorant being present in a portion of the reference image. The intensities of the two images are compared to determine whether the first image contains defects.
