Disclosed are a method for tracking an object by using a thermal image camera and a device thereof. The method for tracking the object includes a step of setting a temperature range of a tracking-targeted object and a temperature range of a background; a step of obtaining a first thermal image on a tracking-targeted object with the thermal image camera; a step of generating a second thermal image by separating the background from the first thermal image based on the temperature range of the tracking-targeted object and the temperature range of the background; and a step of tracking the tracking-targeted object based on the second thermal image.
