The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing metal silicon and, more specifically, to a method for manufacturing metal silicon comprising: a step of supplying quartz ash and low carbon reducing agents to a furnace; a step of heating the furnace, applying arc-heat, making the quartz ash react with the low carbon reducing agents and obtaining molten silicon from the quarts ash; a step of supplying oxygen or nitrogen or a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen to the molten silicon and increasing purity by refining the molten silicon; and a step of solidifying the refined molten silicon and collecting solid phase metal silicon, and metal silicon manufactured thereby.
