Bearing profile for a system ceiling, consisting of a tubular (box-shaped) section 2 which is at the top when fitted and from which a body section 3 extends vertically downwards in the direction of the centre line 6, said body section being provided on either side, at the end facing away from the tubular section, with a lateral flange 4 to bear ceiling panels 10. To ensure a good seal between the bearing profile and the ceiling panels resting thereon, a sealing member 7 is disposed, according to the invention, on either side of the body section in that zone thereof which adjoins the lateral flanges. The sealing member has a sealing faying surface 8 whose distance from the centre line is at least equal to the largest distance of the corresponding side wall of the tubular section from said centre line. The sealing member is preferably formed from a boss formed in the body section. <IMAGE>
