An apparatus and a method for controlling an automatic level in a time division duplex communication system are provided to control a reception gain by predicting the strength of received signals. An automatic level control apparatus of a time division duplex communication system includes a calculation unit, a control signal generation unit(415), and an attenuation unit. The calculation unit produces average power of received signals. The control signal generation unit generates a control signal of the attenuation unit by determining the amount of attenuation according to the average power. The attenuation unit attenuates the received signal according to the control signal. The calculation unit produces the average power to an initial block or a total block the received signal in each frame. |
