The embodiment of the present invention provides a forward vehicle collision warning system which includes: an image photographing part which is attached to the front of a vehicle and photographs the front of the vehicle; a driving part which finds a candidate vehicle in the front by receiving image data from the image photographing part and classifying the image data by a mask, and confirms a target, a real vehicle, by filtering the candidate vehicle, and adds a missed target by tracking the target for a plurality of frames, and generates a warning generation signal according to collision time by calculating the collision time according to the distance between the target and the original vehicle; and a warning part which generates a forward vehicle collision warning signal by receiving the warning generation signal. Therefore, collision with a forward vehicle can be warned simply, by proposing and introducing vehicle detecting and tracking function. Also, the system can improve reliability by judging a candidate vehicle by discriminating the vehicle and the surrounding environment except the vehicle, by applying corrected Haar classification method during vehicle detection, and verifying through filtering.
