A backlight unit of a liquid crystal display device is provided to expand the application field of a white LED(Light Emitting Diode). The first white LED(10) has a spectrum characteristic that shows the first peak value, the strongest light, in the first wavelength section. The second white LED(20) has a spectrum characteristic that shows the second peak value, the strongest light, in the first wavelength section. A light guide plate(30) changes the light emitted from the first white LED and the second white LED into the surface light having the uniform luminance, and then emits the surface light to a liquid crystal panel. The light guide plate is separated from the first and second white LEDs. A filter(40) is located between the light guide plate and the first white LED, or the light guide plate and the second white LED. |
