The present invention relates to an apparatus for cleaning tapes such as films comprising: a first reel onto which the tape is initially wound; a second reel onto which the tape is wound after it has been cleaned; a container containing cleaning liquid into which both sides of said tape can be submerged; means for drying said tape by convection, which means are placed downstream of the container of cleaning liquid; optionally motorised means for guiding the tape on a winding path between the first and second reel; means intended to maintain a constant tension in the tape at every point on its path; and means for starting and stopping the unwinding of the tape. According to the invention, the apparatus furthermore comprises wiping means placed on the path of the tape between the cleaning bath and the drying means, the drying means and the wiping means being placed in the same closed chamber. The invention furthermore relates to a method for using such an apparatus.
