PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device having a wide visual angle and showing no display defect, flicker or burning owing to changes in the film property of an orienting film, and to provide a production method of the liquid crystal display device with good efficiency. CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display device consists of first and second substrates 1, 1 each having an orienting film 42 on the one principal plane and disposed with the orienting films 42 facing each other, and a liquid crystal material held between the first and second substrates. The orienting film 42 on the first substrate 1 is divided into a first region and a second region which has a smaller orientation degree than the orientation degree in the first region so that the liquid crystal material has sprayed deformation strain. |
