<p>The present invention relates to a power supply system which is to supply power to a lighting apparatus placed in an engine room in a ship, and an operating method thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to a power supply system for a lighting apparatus of an engine room in a ship, and an operating method thereof which enables operating the ship economically by reducing the power consumption and fuel amount through power supply to the lighting apparatus, only when necessary and, at the same time, which can obtain economical effects by extending the replacement timing of the lighting apparatus. Provided is the power supply system for a lighting apparatus of an engine room in a ship, which comprises a load-dispatching board which is supplied with power from an external power supply and supplies the power to a lighting apparatus along a power line; an alarm monitoring system which senses the state of the devices installed inside an engine room, and transmits a lighting control signal when sensing an abnormal device; and a circuit breaker which is installed in the power line, is connected with the alarm monitoring system, is controlled by the lighting control signal, and turns on or off the power line.
