A projection system and a projection TV using the same are provided to improve brightness and drive power effectively by reducing power consumption. A light generates white light via a lamp with an oval reflection mirror(22). A color wheel(23) separates the white light into time-sequential red, green and blue light. A driving motor(24) drives the color wheel. An integrator(25) makes luminance of the separated light uniform. A lighting system including the first and second illumination lenses(26,27) for illuminating the light with the uniform luminance toward a micro-display. A TIR(Total Internal Reflection) prism(28) changes a proceeding direction of the light that has passed through the first and second illumination lenses(26,27) toward a DMD(Digital Micromirror Device) panel(29) or the first lens group(33). The DMD panel ON/OFF controls the light made incident from the TIR prism by pixels and reflects it as valid/invalid light including image information. The first lens group corrects chromatic aberration and spherical aberration of the light made incident from the TIR prism. The second lens group(35) corrects astigmatism and distortion of the light which has passed through the first lens group and expansively projects the light in the first projection direction selected from among a plurality of projection directions. A folding mirror(34) changes a projection direction of light. An optical transformation panel(32) transforms incident light into electrical energy. |
