PURPOSE: An optical relay system employs the IQ sampling scheme in communications of a donor unit and a remote unit, thereby reducing the sampling rate in forming an optical frame. CONSTITUTION: A donor unit (10) converts a transmitted signal from a base station into a digital signal. The donor unit downwardly converts the digital signal. The donor unit transmits the downwardly converted signal to a remote unit (20). The remote unit upwardly converts the downwardly converted signal transmitted from the donor unit. The remote unit transmits the upwardly converted signal to a user terminal. The donor unit and the remote unit communicate by the baseband IQ sampling scheme.
