The network has bidirectional information transmission units (11, 12) for transmitting information between a node (10) and another node in circulation directions of the network. Each node has information input and output ports (13, 14) connected to neighbor nodes by the corresponding information transmission unit. Operation of the ports is controlled between an asynchronous operation mode to receive information of the neighbor nodes and a synchronous transmission mode to transmit information toward the neighbor nodes by a communication processor (15). The units utilize a physical layer.
