Disclosed are a method and system for reserving a resource bearer. The method comprises: a target network base station system receiving a request message from a target network packet control entity, wherein the request message carries indication information used for instructing the target network base station system to reserve a resource bearer by using packet switch (PS) bearer information obtained by the target network packet control entity from a source network packet control entity; and the target network base station system reserving the resource bearer by using the received PS bearer information according to the indication information. The technical solution of the present invention ensures that continuity of a reverse single-standby service can be successfully implemented in a non-DTM mode.
