The device (1) has a base body to which an object i.e. headlight (11) to be cooled is arranged. The base body includes cooling fins (12) extending from a cooling surface (13) of the base body in a longitudinal direction (14) for dissipating heat, where the cooling fins have a C-shaped cross-section. The cooling fins are arranged in rows adjacent to each other on the cooling surface, where the cooling fins are arranged on the cooling surface of the base body such that respective longitudinal directions of the cooling fins run parallel to each other.
