A method of operating a sponsorship exchange system to connect sponsors with organizations or individuals within a community for the guided sponsorship from sponsors of organizations or individuals linked to a digital media network. A related method includes providing a system that includes a networked electronic forum for the submission and display of a sponsorship proposal, receiving and processing an electronic communication from a community organization or individual, where the communication indicates acceptance of the sponsorship proposal. Sponsors may be automatically awarded advertising as sponsorship proposals reach predetermined support levels. The method also includes automatically sending an electronic communication with information regarding the acceptance of the sponsorship proposal by the community organization or individual. Further, the method includes receiving an electronic communication that include information demonstrating compliance with terms of the sponsorship proposal, and crediting the community organization for each communication demonstrating compliance with terms of the sponsorship proposal.
