Provided are an electronic device and a remote control method therefor. The electronic device comprises a display screen, a processor and a wireless communication unit. The processor is connected to the display screen and the wireless communication unit. The display screen is divided into at least two display regions, the display regions being in one-to-one correspondence with option boxes of the interface of the display screen. The wireless communication unit is used for receiving a control signal sent from a remote control device. The processor is used for parsing the control signal to acquire a movement parameter of the remote control device, determining a target display region according to the movement parameter, and controlling the display screen to display a prompt state of the target display region to prompt a user of a current selected object. The difficulty whereby a user locates a target object by moving a cursor step by step is overcome, making it convenient for the user to rapidly locate the target object.
