Embodiments may employ supporting features on the inner surface of the toe cap to allow the toe cap to have sufficient strength for protection despite being a relatively thin-walled structure and/or not being required to employ a primarily vertical front wall design. The inner surface of such toe caps may have a stair-stepped portion and/or vertical support ribs, for example.
