PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a register settlement system and method capable of preventing an illicit settlement as well as shortening a waiting time in a settlement.SOLUTION: A register settlement system 1 includes plural settlement lines L, each settlement line L having a register settlement apparatus 2 consisting of a reader 5 and two settlement machines 7, 8. A user 3 receives a settlement sheet printed out from the reader 5, and has by him/herself either one of the two settlement machines 7, 8 provided in parallel adjacently to a specific reader 5 that printed out the settlement sheet read the settlement sheet and show a total amount of money. Then the user 3 pays the total amount of money. Because either one of the two settlement machines 7, 8 provided for each reader 5 can be used even when the other is in use, the register settlement system 1 can prevent an illicit settlement as well as shorten a waiting time in a settlement, and allows the user 3 to smoothly perform the settlement along an aisle 4. In addition, use of the settlement sheet intervened by the user 3 between the reader 5 and the settlement machines 7, 8 can simplify the register settlement apparatus 2 of the register settlement system 1. |
