PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a semiconductor device which reduces multiplexer area and reduces power consumption.SOLUTION: According to the method for operating a semiconductor device having a selection circuit having a memory and a multiplexer, in the memory, a first transistor and a first capacitive element are connected to each other, and a second transistor and a second capacitive element are connected to each other. In the multiplexer, a third transistor has either a source or a drain connected to a first input terminal and the other connected to an output terminal, and a fourth transistor has either a source or a drain connected to a second input terminal and the other connected to the output terminal. Further, there is a step of holding a first potential at a node connected with the first transistor, the first capacitive element and a gate of the third transistor and, after that, holding a second potential higher than the first potential at the node. |
