PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neovascularization inhibitor that can be safely and easily administered over a long period of time and a food and drink composition for inhibiting neovascularization.SOLUTION: A neovascularization inhibitor contains a protein polysaccharide of a (1→6)-&bgr;-D-glucan with a glucan:protein ratio of 55:43 [w/w] as an active ingredient which is obtained by being extracted with a 5 w% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution from a residue obtained by extracting and removing water-soluble polysaccharides from the fruiting body of Agaricus blazei Murrill (Himematsutake), and a food and drink composition for inhibiting neovascularization contains the protein polysaccharide of a (1→6)-&bgr;-D-glucan.
